What makes Solcotta different from other brands?
Solcotta takes a skin-conscious approach to equine care. We use carefully selected, naturally derived and botanical ingredients, chosen for their purpose within each formulation.
Every product is developed with the horse’s skin in mind. Alongside its primary function, each formulation provides considered skin benefits — whether that means helping to nourish, soothe, condition, hydrate or support the skin.

What is Naturally Elevated Care?
Naturally Elevated is our approach to caring for horses: effective, purposeful care thoughtfully formulated with the horse’s skin in mind.
We combine botanically enriched formulations with a clear purpose, whether that’s to cleanse, protect, repel, condition or nourish, while considering how each product interacts with the horse’s skin.
For us, elevating equine care isn’t about adding more steps or using more products. It’s about choosing well-formulated natural products that do their job while giving your horse’s skin the care and consideration it deserves.

Are Solcotta Products Natural?
Yes. Our formulations are made using naturally derived and botanical ingredients, carefully selected for their functional and skin-supporting benefits.
We aim to use ingredients that are sustainably and ethically sourced, while considering the impact of our formulations and packaging on the environment.
Are Solcotta Products Cruelty-Free & Vegan?
Yes. All Solcotta products and ingredients are cruelty-free.
Our range is vegan with the exception of Solemend Hoof Balm, which contains sustainably sourced beeswax.
Where are Solcotta Products Made?
All Solcotta products are thoughtfully made in South Africa. We work closely with local production partners and prioritise small-batch manufacturing, quality ingredients and mindful formulation practices.
Keeping our production and packaging close to home allows us to support local small businesses throughout the process, from formulation and manufacturing to packaging and fulfilment.
Why Concentrates?
We use concentrates to reduce unnecessary water and packaging in our products. By removing water from the formulation until you’re ready to use it, we can create smaller, lighter products that require less packaging and are more efficient to transport.
You simply dilute the concentrate with water when preparing it for use, following the instructions provided with each product.
It’s a simple approach that allows us to create effective equine care products while reducing waste and making each bottle go further.

I'm new to Solcotta - Where Should I Start?
A simple place to begin is with what your horse needs most. Each Solcotta product has a clear purpose, whether that’s cleansing, protecting, repelling or conditioning.
Start with the product that suits your horse’s current care needs, then build from there. Our products are designed to work alongside one another, so you can create a considered care routine without needing to use everything at once.

Can I use Solcotta on Sensitive Horses?
Solcotta products are thoughtfully formulated with the horse’s skin in mind, making them suitable for daily care, including horses whose skin is more sensitive or easily irritated.
As with any new product, we recommend introducing it gradually and following the directions for use. If your horse has particularly reactive skin, patch testing a small area first is a sensible precaution.
Each product has been formulated for a specific purpose, so we recommend choosing products according to your horse’s individual needs rather than using more than necessary
How Long Does it Take to See Results?
This depends on the product and what you are using it for. Some benefits are immediate - such as cleansing the hoof or helping to repel flies - while conditioning and nourishing the skin and hoof can be supported through consistent use over time.
Solcotta products are designed to become part of your horse’s regular care routine, with thoughtful formulations that support both the product’s primary purpose and the condition of the skin.
As every horse is different, results can vary depending on your horse’s individual needs, environment and consistency of use. We recommend following the directions for each product and allowing time for regular care to do its work.
Can Products be Mixed & Matched?
Absolutely. Solcotta products are designed to work alongside one another, allowing you to build a care routine around your horse’s individual needs.
Our products can be used in tandem across the range, with some natural pairings within specific areas of care:
- Soleward + Solemend for a considered hoof care routine.
- Fieldguard + Tickfend for a more complete approach to repellent care.
You can also use products from different areas of the range as needed. There is no need to use everything at once, simply choose the products that serve a purpose for your horse and use them as part of a thoughtful, consistent care routine.
Ingredients
What Are Natural Botanicals?
Botanicals are ingredients derived from plants, including extracts, oils, flowers, leaves, roots and other plant materials. They have been used for centuries in personal and traditional care for their naturally occurring properties.
At Solcotta, we select botanical ingredients for a reason, considering their functional benefits and how they can support the horse’s skin as part of a carefully formulated product.
Do Solcotta Products Contain Synthetic Fragrance?
No. Solcotta does not use harsh synthetic fragrances. The natural scents in our products come from the botanical ingredients and essential oils selected as part of each formulation.
Do Solcotta Products Contain Essential Oils?
Essential oils are included in some Solcotta formulations for their naturally occurring properties and aromatic qualities. Each essential oil is selected for a specific reason and used at an appropriate level within the formulation.
They are not added simply for fragrance; they are considered alongside the other ingredients to support the purpose and overall formulation of the product.

Are Solcotta Products Sustainably Packaged?
We aim to make thoughtful packaging choices that reduce unnecessary waste and environmental impact wherever possible. Our primary packaging is designed with reuse and recyclability in mind, including our refillable aluminium bottles.
We continue to look for ways to improve our packaging and make more considered choices as the brand grows.
Are Solcotta Ingredients Sourced Ethically?

We produce Solcotta in small batches to maintain close attention to quality, consistency and formulation. It allows us to work carefully with each batch and ensure our products meet the standard we expect before they reach your horse.
